Handout

Handouts are a tremendous part of the teachers arsenal. In my experience as a student, they're a method of retaining the absolute most important parts of a lesson as sort of a Cliff's Notes for that particular class.

The website Smore is used for creating flyers which can then be distributed through social media, printed, or simply shared on a website. I've found immense use in thinking of handouts for a class as similar to a flyer – you want them to highlight all the really important information, you want to present it in a way that not only looks nice but is easy to maneuver visually, and you want it to be something that the people you hand it out to don't just chuck away.

Smore is a great option for this in that it also lets you have some web hosting along with your flyer creation. You can provide your students with a URL to the flyer you've created, and not only get some interesting data to track the stats of the flyer yourself, but also give your students the option of using the flyer digitally as well as physically.

With that in mind, here is a sample class handout that I created using Smore. The flyer we're using as an example was designed for a class in LibGuide Access.

You can view the flyer below, or visit it's forever home on Smore here.
