BECAUSE WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH ALL THIS FABRIC.

I got interested in quilting sometime around 2006 after watching my mom and one of her friends hand-quilting. They were working on a giant quilt together for the friends daughter and were stitching in dozens of little “Easter eggs” for her to find - a mermaid, a VW bug, he initials. It seemed incredibly therapeutic, just the two of them sitting together and sewing, but also immensely rewarding. At the end, the daughter was going to get this awesome piece of functional art made for her!

When I was pregnant with my son, my interests in quilting heightened, but I never did anything about it.

I started my first quilt when he was 2 months old. I am calling it Wabisabi because of it's numerous imperfections. It was while making Wabisabi that I started planning out other quilts and getting really addicted to the whole hand quilting idea.

Below are some photos of making Wabisabi.
